Our Mountain Bike Types

Choosing the right bike.

Whether buying or hiring a bike, choosing the right one depends on a number of things; the terrain, track surface, the conditions and weather, your cycling experience, your skill and fitness level, the distance to be travelled and your sense of fun and adventure.

All the mountain bikes at Beics Betws are hard tail with disc brakes meaning they have suspension on the front forks but not at the back and the brakes operate through discs on the front and back wheels.  They are suitable for all red, blue and green trails, rough forest and moorland tracks, the traditional mountain bikes can be hard work on ordinary roads and tracks due to the wide tyres. Those wishing to ride black trails, downhill trails or extremely rough footpaths and wilderness trails should consider the full suspension options offered by other hire companies.

Our mountain bikes have 27.5 inch wheels with the new single cog gear system which makes gear change much easier. Our adult mountain bikes are available in frame sizes 14 inch to 22 inch, You should refer to our height/size chart when booking your bike but often you can try them out when you arrive and see which bike suits you best.

We also have a small number of children’s bikes including a tag a long. Most are suitable for off road riding. New for 2019 are some touring/adventure bikes for you to explore further afield on road and tracks and carry your luggage.
